New Master's programme: Governing Socio-Ecological Transformation

The Master's programme in Governing Socio-Ecological Transformations will be offered for the first time in the winter semester 2026/27 at the University of Vienna.

The ecological crisis is at the heart of socio-political dynamics, conflicts and negotiation processes. The aim of the English-language Master's programme Governing Socio-Ecological Transformations at the University of Vienna is to provide students with broad empirical knowledge and an interdisciplinary, analytical and theoretical toolkit for understanding the complexity of socio-ecological and multiple crises and their highly topical social implications. To this end, qualitative and quantitative approaches and methods from the social sciences, economics and humanities are combined and supplemented with specific knowledge from the natural sciences.

The application period for the Master's programme in the winter semester 2026/27 runs from 2 March to 7 April 2026.
