Short biography

David is an economist and political scientist graduated from the Pontifical Javeriana University of Bogota, Colombia. His MSc is in Politics, Economics and Philosophy from the University of Hamburg. He is currently working within the BITELSA project under the leadership of Prof. Tobias Boos, which aims to analyse the underlying discourse of Bitcoin (BTC) adoption in El Salvador and its relationship with social practices. The areas of interest for his current research are cultural political economy, political movements in Latin America, indigenous epistemologies such as Buen Vivir, and the relationship between cryptocurrencies and social practices from a cultural political economy perspective.

Research focus

David’s research focus is on the impact that South American imaginaries and philosophies such as Buen Vivir, have on the political and socio-economic systems. Additionally, his focus lies on the relationship between political discourses, use practices and economic dynamics. His research has an interdisciplinary focus deriving from research methodologies from Political Economy, Indigenous Research methods and ethnography.
