Barbara Prainsack is the new Chair Elect of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE)

Barbara Prainsack was elected new Chair of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE).

In January 2022, Barbara Prainsack was appointed by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Mariya Gabriel, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth as a new member of the European Commission's advisory body "European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE)".

 

In April 2022, Barbara Prainsack was elected the new Chair of this advisory body.

 

EGE was established in 1991 as an independent advisory body to the European Commission. It advises the President of the Commission and the entire College of European Commissioners on issues such as the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, genome editing, artificial intelligence and the future of work, where ethical, societal and fundamental rights issues intersect with the development of science and new technologies. The current advisory body includes 15 outstanding European experts in these topics, who were appointed for the term 2022 to 2024.
