Abstract
Prior to Brexit, the UK successfully advocated a pro‐market Approach that influenced many areas of EU digital market policy. Post Brexit, the political architecture within the EU changed, altering the trajectory of EU Policy development. The EU has increasingly integrated its emphasis on digital sovereignty into policymaking, identifying digital markets as critical political priorities. This shift requires the EU to update and adapt various legal, regulatory, and financial frameworks while actively promoting European values and principles. A significant aspect of the digital sovereignty agenda focuses on strengthening European companies and ensuring that infrastructure and data remain on European soil. This seminar will explore this new policy direction, comparing it to the UK’s recent more open market proposals for the creative sector and data sectors.
