Civic Solidarity Unbound: Reviving the Social Core

This talk re-examined civic solidarity, traditionally tied to fixed citizenship criteria, by proposing an alternative unbounded model grounded in peace traditions and civic practices. Emphasizing inclusive belonging over border policing, Prof. Sally Scholz offered a new perspective on sustaining political communities.

International Symposium: Solidarity in Health & Healthcare

The international symposium Solidarity in Health & Healthcare, held from 19 to 21 May 2025 at the University of Vienna, brought together experts from medicine, bioethics, and public health to explore the role of solidarity as a social determinant of health. In light of recent health and environmental crises and advancements in medical technology, the event featured discussions on topics such as biobanks, priority setting, organ donation, caregiving, Covid-19, and human milk banks. Through original research presentations and engaging dialogue, the symposium highlighted the essential role solidarity plays in shaping contemporary healthcare.
